Dr. Ignacio Blasi Jr.
Dr. Ignacio Blasi Jr. DDS, MS is a Board Certified Orthodontist – a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia, where he obtained a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Oral Biology degree. He is a former Clinical Associate at the Department of Orthodontics and worked at the University of Pennsylvania faculty practice with Dr. Robert Vanarsdall for several years. He received his dental degree from the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain and was recognized with the Colgate National Award in dental research. Dr. Ignacio Blasi Jr. is an affiliate member of the Edward H. Angle Midwest Society of Orthodontist, the world's most prestigious orthodontic honor society. He has published various articles and lectures at a national and international level in the field of Orthodontics. Dr. Blasi is a contributor and co-author of Orthodontics: Current Principles and Techniques, a widely used graduate orthodontic textbook. He has been serving our community in the Northern VA for the past few years. His treatment philosophy is based on a comprehensive diagnosis of the whole maxillofacial complex and a differentiation between the skeletal and dental components; it is the key to create facial harmony, beauty and smiles to facial esthetics. He believes that early treatment in young children can eliminate a complex treatment care and other problems in the future with a correct management of growth and development. If the patient is treated young enough an extraction treatment in the future and other airway problems could be avoided. He also specializes in diagnosis and management of sleep apnea, periodontal complex adult cases, impacted teeth, congenitally missing teeth and TMD treatment. Outside of the office he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. Dr. Blasi loves traveling and sports; especially skiing, tennis, and soccer. He is fluent in both Spanish and English.
